Self-Service Portal
Companies are investing heavily in self-service portals often referred to as Enterprise Information Portals (EIPs) to increase service levels and decrease costs. Chief Information Officers (CIOs) face a major challenge because the user community demanding on-line access to corporate applications has expanded to include all employees in the enterprise along with retirees, candidates, business partners, suppliers, distributors, customers and investors. The “HR intranet” that was developed over the past couple of years must now become an Employee Portal, which seamlessly integrates into the overall EIP providing people with the ability to manage their own compensation, benefits, life-events and career development. The “career opportunities” section of the corporate Web site must also seamlessly integrate into the overall EIP providing active and passive candidates with the ability to apply for open jobs and develop a relationship with the potential employer.
All of the back-office HRMS vendors including the leaders such as PeopleSoft, Oracle and SAP, now offer employee self-service and some manager self-service capabilities making it even more challenging to determine what is the right choice for your company. The self-service platform software market has consolidated around several of the larger vendors who have taken most of the competition out of the market through acquisition over the past few years. HRchitect clients continue to select and implement self-service platforms, along with best-in-class eHR components where the breath and depth of functionality is not available from the back-office HRMS vendor. Fortune 500 companies with large employee populations are leveraging eCommerce technology within the Employee Portals to enable employees to conduct transactions with employer-approved suppliers. For example, employees are able to take advantage of group discounts on financial services and vacation packages. The suppliers get the opportunity to market their products to a well targeted group of consumers. HRchitect offers the following services to help companies design and implement Employee Portal solutions that increase service and reduce costs:
